I did exactly the same to an old Cinelli steel frame that I rode in to a moped and 22mph. Ouch!

You know I am surprised at the amount of damage CX bikes get in races, saw a nice Ridley yes'day whose rear mech had broken off and bent the gear hanger badly as it left.
