i agree, there are no winners but the guy should have got longer. sounds like a cowardly act to me, punched an older man then run off

Let's face it, nobody would be saying 'there are no winners here' if a motorist had murdered a cyclist. Forget the tribalism for a second. A man punched another man, killing him. He deserves to be sent down. Justice is the winner

+1 But 18 months for killing someone - unbelievable. And probably out in half that time too.

It is a damming indictment on the judicial system. Two of the three males who assaulted (GBH with intent) were given three years. I do not understand how somebody who takes the life of another gets 18 months!!!

:hyper:HE WAS MEANT TO BE ON ANTIPSYCHOTIC MEDS !!!!!!! :hyper:

In mitigation, the defence mentioned the fact that Mr Lambeth had experienced episodes of psychosis since 2001. However, there is no suggestion that the attack occured during an episode of psychosis.

Was it because the charge was manslaughter, not murder?

Manslaughter is a greater offence than GBH. Maybe they take previous into account?

I'm sorry but this makes me so angry. He killed a man and before you say he should have been taking his medicine, he chose not to take it, I know from grim personal experience that patients are explained the consequences of not taking their meds. I spent a lot of my life with a stepfather that was a paranoid schitzophrenic with paranoid tendencies and I was the target, he knew exactly what happened if he left the meds off. Now please don't think because of this I have an anti-mental health issues, I have mental health issues of my own and cycle 34 mile round trip to therapy.
The man decided he knew well enough to leave off his medication, he then lost his temper and a man ended up dead, he should have got a longer sentence

I find it hard to get angry when I hear of this kind of case, it's more a sense of the tedious inevitably about it that disappoints. One psychopathic man who wasn't managed in the community properly, two of his idiot friends who are as probably as scared of him as the driver was and probably do what ever he tells them to, who then get sucked into a joint venture that killed a man and then one unfortunate man who didn't check his mirror before he got out of a car and got killed for it.

A series of unfortunate events - it's all the result of human failings and weakness, the failure to keep the guy off the streets, the failure of his friends who were weak and easily led.

I am not seeing how a heavy punitive sentence will solve anything in all honesty.

heavy sentences may not solve anything, well how can they, the deed is done. Its about punishment not reform. If you do a crime you should be punished

Psychosis is not the same thing as psychopathy. Plus, you're making an awful lot of assumptions.
