Just had this converation with some ccers in equipment (are you here lol!), I do tend to just take them off as I'm a lucky -2/-2.5 so can manage without.

Whats this about washing up liquid, does it not harm the lenses e.g. any coatings you have on them?

My helmet visor doesnt really do anything and putting a cap on underneath it means I cant actually do the straps up so thats not an option

Hmmm, I always wear glasses and I've never noticed a problem with rain... though fog and mist - that's a bugger. When I had a motorbike I did try something that the Army used for the goggles on NBC suits, can't say it was a big improvement.

I'm a fairly recent convert to contact lenses.

I first tried them 20 years or so ago, when all you could get in my prescription were hard, gas permeable lenses. I tried my best, but just couldn't get used to them.

I decided to try soft lenses, and Asda opticians tried Focus Dailies. They were easy to wear from day 1, and although it took a couple of weeks to get used to wearing them all day, I'm glad I did. Not having to wear glasses - especially when it's raining - is a huge benefit. They don't slip down my nose, they don't get knocked off, they don't get mucky or steamed up, and I don't have to juggle regular and prescription sunglasses on sunny days. It's like having perfect eyesight again!

I'd urge anyone to try them. I think they're amazing.

I've been waiting for decades to come across the product I remember Fred Dinenage demonstrating about 35 years ago on the "How" program that the old Southern TV station used to produce.

Basically, it was a pair of windscreen wipers for glasses. Can't imagine why the idea wasn't a commercial success.............

My glasses only get steamed up when I have stopped and am breathing heavily. When they get wet I simply wipe them with the material side of my gloves and they are fine (until that get wet again).

Try looking into some prescription sunglasses. I got mine from Specsavers and they work a doddle in the sun (obviously), and allow me to see what I am doing on the roads. I used to have to squint and try to not get blinded but have a look into sunglasses.

I bought a wrap-around sunglass frame for £2.99 from TK Max and got it clear glazed for £50 to my prescription. The style is so wrap-around that the lenses are a snug fit against my face and drops of rain so close that they don't really matter.

dclane, ouch! stung u near ur eye?

Yep - just below the bottom lid. I was on the last leg of my return trip to Dewsbury from Ribblehead as well.

No damage done although I was fairly flying along, but as I know someone died this year because a fly got under their glasses I think I came off lightly.
