Cycling whilst drunk? Should I?

jay - just go for a night out. Take the bus or get a lift. Drink what you want, eat and enjoy the company. Wake up sometime the next day and go for a 38km bike ride.
You know it will be for the best. And your bike will be cosy while you are viewing glass bottoms...
My team mate Ted got done for 'drunk in charge of a bicycle' - he used to ride it to cricket matches. He only started riding it because he lost his driving licence. ;)

FFS if you can afford a few beers and a curry, you can certainly affiord a taxi home.

My Dad once killed an elderly cyclist who rode out, drunk, straight onto his bonnet. No blame was attached to my Dad but it affected him for the rest of his life. Think of the grief and expense you would cause to others of you had an accident. Don't be selfish; put a few quid in the pocket of a taxi driver who probably needs it more than you do.

I've ridden back from the pub absolutely steamed before now. The worst that ever happened is that I wobbled into a hedge and fell asleep on top of a grit bin.;)

I've done it in the past with quiet routes and short journeys but for that distance I'd limit it to a couple of pints. A bit of smoke on the other hand is no problem whatsoever for some reason - it's as if the exercise totally brings you to your senses and then when you're rested up at the other end, you feel mashed again.

A few years ago... My birthday. Start drinking down city pub at lunch time. Go to friends house and have a few more pints. Next thing I know is thats it's around 2 - 3 AM and I should be back home. So I get on my cycle and wobble up the road. Notice a police car at top of road! Pull out (wobble) to the right and turn left in front of said police car... Nothing! Wobble back home and all is well. But never again.

Cycling = No alcohol now ;)

I did it back in the distant past. On one evening I start to leen left and could not correct myself until it was too late and I went over a wall and landed in someones garden narrowly missing 2 parked cars ;)
It buggered up my front wheel and a set of handlebars. Really not worth it and good to see you have a lift sorted now
