Cycling terms - how do you pronounce?

I'm always coming across cycling terms that I'm not sure how to pronounce.

Lets start with Randonneur.

Car Tax is pronounced "Vehicle Excise Duty"....:-)

The /an/ is a French nasal sound, the same as the /em/ in Camembert. Anglicised, the first syllable is pronounced like the English ran. The -eur is pronounced closer to err and this is the lightly stressed part of the word.

Bianchi = Bee-an-key

SPD = Ess-pee-dee, or (often) Spud!

Campagnolo = Cam-pan-yolo and in the UK is more tastfully shortened to Campag rather than Campy!

Once upon a time, in an LBS far, far away.... I made the mistake of pronouncing Campagnolos "Veloce" as something like "velostch", with a brummie accent.

One of the customers ran over and in a very itallian accent shouted "Its vel-ow-chi. VEL-OW-CHI!!!", while doing the hand gesture with his thumb pushed against his first 2 fingers.

So now we know... its VEL-OW-CHI

I guess that's why I have always had shimuno.

OK, 'der_rye_uh'. Wossat? I'm fick, see. Guerciotti (sp?) - there's a pron. to conjure with. Gwer-chotti I reckon.

rand-on-errrr - draw out the last syllable as long as possible to make it sound more French.

I have a total mental block with, er, hang on while I check ... 'Sudoku' ... I can never remember if it is Sudoku, or Soduko.

While we are on audax ... Randonnee should really have an acute accent on the first 'e', thus - Randonnée - so it should be pronounced ron-dun-ay rather than ron-dun-ee.
