 ok well with Sky player you have two options, if you have Sky Tv then you get access to Skyplayer.com for free.

BUT and this is the big but, it depends on not only what TV package you have but also other things like do you have Multiroom or Sky Broadband Unlimited Formally know as Broadband Max.

For example:

You have the Sky World package on one box only in the house with no other packages (BB and Sky talk), this means you have all the entertainment channels and Sky Movies and Sky Sports, if you were to go online you wouldnt be able to watch live Sporting events like Eurosport For the Cycling. you would need to have another box in house, or BB Unlimited or a Sky player Multiroom Subscription which is £10 a month to watch sport live.

hope this helps i some way and i havent confussed things even more

The other and way more expensive opton is if you dont have Sky Tv you can subscribe to an online only package but it costs the saem as the TV package.

I have Eurosport Player. It's pretty good, you can choose 3 different resolution settings and it works fine apart from the odd time now and then when the frame rate slows up a bit. You can pay monthly or annually which is cool if you just want the grand tours, I get it all year but i like the alpine season too. I got rid of sky when my friend showed me it and I do not regret it. I can even watch on my mobile bb dongle. The missus will love that when your on holiday lol.

If you've got a sat dish check out freesat as well as freeview. If you've got Sky + you can now get freesat and freeview players which will give you live pause, recording, etc.
Is Rai still free-to-air during the Giro? Got a very stingy download limit so internet streaming is out of the question. I'm thinking a dish pointed at Hotbird plus a freesat box would be a good solution for the Giro and Tour if there isn't any encryption.

I don't know about Rai, I'm afraid. I've a Freesat HDR now, having dumped Sky +. Freesat's much better imho. You can manually tune into non freesat channels either manually or automatically, but some of the channels will be encrypted of course.

I'm still agonising over whether to get the eurosport player or not! One of my PCs is connected to my 32" TV; if I get the player, will it be full screen or just a 2" square in the middle?
