Its a mobile lampost,Kendal is, seemingly,the only place to employ such.During WW2,they were collected, wheeled down to Windermere and turned on,in the hope that the Luftwaffe would flatten the Sodom & Gomorrah that was,and remains Windermere.They were last used recently at the Torchlight procession ,an annual event at which the locals make merry and burn an effigy of some chap called Ritchie.Just a shame that someone has gone and spoiled the view by parking a rather odd looking collection of steel pipes and wheels in the foreground.
