Cycles UK - mmmmmmm I'll believe it when I see it.
It has been opening "soon" since about last September

As for the Cycle Warehouse, which is my LBS - They are not bad for small bits and bobs and helpful enough but their mechanics are not capable of much beyond inner tube replacement and oiling things

Well maybe so
that's what it says on their blog.
And if it's anything like the Orpington Cycles UK, (the manager of the new store apparently the old manager of the Orpington Branch), then it will be an excellent shop.

Plus it is within spitting distance of my office, so nice an easy for a visit during lunch times

Was in the Tonbridge Cycle UK at the w/e and it was pants. Mainly kiddies, budget and leisure bikes. Staff were friendly though, they gave a great demo of the Mezzo folding bike to my daft girlfriend!

Still open, as far as I'm aware. Or, was Mr C enquiring as to the effect on their trade from the competition? Guess it depends on what Cycles UK stock. Cycle Warehouse doesn't seem to stock too much above the mid-range, iirc, probably make more selling cheaper end Ridgebacks, etc. If Cycles UK sell more swanky stuff then I suppose there won't be too much crossover.

The guy in Cycle Warehouse was always pretty helpful when I used to go in there. I use Harry Perry in Woolwich now as I'm in Charlton. Paul in there is a great bloke - really enthusiastic and helpful.

I popped into Cycle Warehouse as it is the nearest place, other than Evans, to Canary Wharf. I was impressed by the size and stock (although I was only in there for 5 minutes). There is a Cycle UK in Romford and I have found that to me a bit cramped and the stock at either end of the price spectrum with no much around £4-700

What happened ?
I dropped in on the opening day, checked it out, it looked quite good, got a free glass of wine.

I have never seen it open once since that day

I pass it twice a day, every day of the week, between 7.30 am and 9am and then again between about 5.30pm and 7.30pm
They must be placed on one of the busiest cycle commuting routs in the capital and I can't believe they only open 9 to 5 or something silly, as that would miss 90% of the customers. Perhaps they are just there to launder money, or be a tax loss or something

Well every day I cycle by they are open at 8.30am and again at 6pm.I have never seen them closed before 6pm. They are also open sundays.
Dave, Nick and Owen are good helpful guys, it's a very good shop.

Launder money? what a silly statement, you obviously have some sort of agenda.

I always wonder if it would make any money for them if they were open a bit earlier/shut a bit later/both? I would have thought prime commuting time is over by the time they open and only just in full swing by the time they close. Surely a few more tubes/tyres/other kit might get sold if they were open when a load of potential customers were riding by?
