Not so much of a recommendation more a "how much"!!

Stopped at Rhug Estate Farm Shop Cafe (A5 near Corwen just before Bala turn off)

Nice enough place but £8.00 for a bacon sandwich is taking the proverbial!

Found a new one yesterday
Victoria Park in Widnes if you are going throught there (dunno why you would but.....)
about 5 teenagers serving - no idea why so many so they need more customers to keep them busy
do seem like nice kids though - very willing and helpful!

one warning - the bacon and sausage baps all seem to come with cheese on them - which is clearly an offense against nature and should result in severe hanging - you have to ask them to remove the offending rotten milk to get a decent sausage sandwich

although I may be biased as I hate the stuff

My wife and I visited the Woods Cyclery in Lyndhurst, in the New Forest recently. It's tiny and attached to a down to earth bike shop. Superb sandwiches, seriously good coffee (if you're a coffee enthusiast, that is), and a really nice bunch of people.

Is that the one with the Bisons?

That is the place. I will know better next time, a mile down the road just after you turn towards Bala there is a roadside diner which will probably be more reasonable.

At this point I will add that I bailed out of climbing Ruthin to Mold on the way back and went the longer, flatter route via Denbigh!! I would have been a "moving chicane" for the traffic on my heavy slow sit up and beg winter bike going up that never ending hill!!

May I ask the difference between a severe and non-severe hanging?

One for the locals which I have cycled past hundreds of times and never knew it was there.

Haven't been yet but will give it a go soon.

Get thee there forthwith! Not cheap but it's great food, the cafe gets busy, probably should book to guarantee table inside between 12-2. Menu is brilliant, I could eat all if it (apart from the goat cheese!). Be aware the EGG Benedict is indeed singular but is a 'light bite' item rather than a 'meal'

Thanks Neil, I can't believe how many times I have cycled that road and didn't know it was there.

The only reason I know of it now as I passed it on Friday and when I was looking at my ride it came up on the map.

For what it's worth I love cheese 🧀🧀🧀

That the one just opposite the Ferrari garage? Yes, only ever been in there the once but it was very pleasant. I tend to avoid the New Forest in summer as the roads get a bit silly in places but might head out that way for a frosty ride.

Thought I’d added this one an age ago but I’d give the Gliding Club cafe at Lasham, Hampshire a look if you’re riding in the Basingstoke Alps area.

The original kitchen burned down a few years ago so they moved the cafe to their main hall/club room. It’s not fancy but the food and coffee are both decent and depending on times there’s a licensed bar. On my last visit it looked like they were rebuilding the kitchen block, but it might take a while.

Unusually for these type of places the welcome is very friendly and not cliquey in the slightest. There’s plenty of space inside and out and as long as the weather is good you can usually see gliders being thrown up with both aerotowed and winch launches. One time I turned up and they were doing the morning safety and weather briefing. I imagine they’d get grumpy if you made a nuisance of yourself during that but they had no probs with me listening in. It’s a very chill way to spend a coffee stop.

The club is actually very successful, has a few British team members and does well at international competitions. Note that I have no idea how you compete at gliding.

A couple from me that I regularly go to and both are very bike friendly

The Grounds Cafe Fineshade MTB Centre - Top Lodge, Fineshade, Corby NN17 3BB - https://maps.app.goo.gl/KyEBqfoJTzPdb2Uw9 - https://groundscafe.uk/fineshade/

Holly Lodge Cafe - Holly Lodge Bungalow, Farm PE28 5XZ - https://maps.app.goo.gl/txsyhxoe4yQZg4Uo7 - https://www.hollylodge.org/

I could add more but these are the best ones within cycling distance of Peterborough. I couldn't figure out how to add them to the Cycle Chat Google map though.
