Right, I'm going for a wired one. Slomo's bellpush has inspired me. I think I covered the hole when I decorated the porch so I'll have to push a drill through it again but as no one has dazzled me with a wireless one I think I'll bow to wired inevitability.
Are you still banging on about this?
Let us know when you want a recommendation for dishcloths or dustpan and brushes.
We're happy to help.

Told you which one to get, you can even answer it on your smartphone so it saves the trek to the door.

Hi Crackle before you go for a new doorbell have a look at what the RNID sell to the general public as they have doorbells with flashing lights from some of the main manufacturers. Their web address is www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/shop

I got one with a metal push button and wired it into the mains. Great for persuading Jehovah's Witnesses and canvassing politicians not to bother me!

The current mens high jump record is 2.45m (8 feet).Easy. So to dissuade JW, politicians, salesmen and other undesirables from calling, I'm currently in training and will shortly be having the front door moved to the second floor and bricking up the ground floor one. There will be a firemans pole for the descent.

I have a wireless doorbell that came with a new door a few weeks ago (both of which I despise...but Mrs Jeez was adamant we needed them).

The doorbell goes off when we lock our car on the drive and plays a different sound every time, the only way you can stop it is to go outside and rig the doorbell

I am sure we can adjust the channel but I rather like how often we get to complain theatrically about that "bl00dy door"...kind of makes me like the door a little bit more, oddly

You can get a similarly sized retro bell push with "Visitors" written on it instead of "Press". I'm going to install two completely separate wired systems, one with "Visitors" and one with "Tradesmen". Perhaps Fenton might be a more economical solution.

Actually, shadow labour minister seems to want it to be "Trades".
