I'm terribly uncultured when it comes to cinema. I've definitely seen 4 of those, probably seen 2, but I'm not sure, I've heard of 3 of them but don't know what they are about, and never heard of 1.

My favourite is Blade Runner but I might vote for Silent Running as that's not there.

Dredd (the Karl Urban one) is worth a watch, as is Moon with Sam Rockwell.

I've seen and enjoyed most of the films mentioned so far, but particularly like time travel plots. 12 Monkeys, Looper, Primer, Interstellar and..... Save the weirdest 'til last: Predestination.

eXistenZ is brilliant

How about Dark City? Similar in many ways to the Matrix and arguably better, enjoyable though the Matrix may be

Great shout.

I think eXistenZ went a bit under the radar because it came out in the same year as The Matrix which everyone lost their minds for.

I must be on my own with existenz... is that the one where they're testing a new virtual reality video game at the beginning?

That's the one. And you're often not quite sure whether you're in the game or the game within a game, or even ostensibly reality.
