• Nay - I'd rather smear myself with treacle and sit on an anthill that even say the "L" word.

No idea. Not a major component of my spending habits.
Just as well. In your area, it would lead to bankruptcy.

Not a black/white issue for me, but one of mixed feelings.
For work it is (usually) early morning train, bustle of the underground, meeting/s and then reverse, which is a tiring day and feel grubby at the end of it.
When child one was working in central London and living in Battersea, Stamford Hill and latterly just off Bedford Square and Mrs B and I were down there for more than a day, I could feel the place was different to my home city of Manchester. It did have a buzz about it and prices were reasonable with some care. - Apart that is from housing costs, which having to subsidise child 1, I was only too aware of.

How can you say that? Cycling in London traffic is enormous fun. The drivers around you are amazingly skilled and considerate. They have to be, given the numbers of cyclists on the road.
Until one knocks you off
or an idiot of a cyclist cuts straight across your front wheel knocking you off... both have happened to me

To be fair, I actually enjoy cycling in central London, but only at the weekend

Brilliant! In my 5 years of 22 miles a day commute, I was hit 3 times. That was before cycling was a thing though, so I guess motons are now better motons. And I’ve been jumped by pedestrians. Twice.

Yes, it does happen every now and then. So far, I've bounced. When I don't, I'll feel differently.
I'm coming down shortly - first proper visit, we want to see the natural history museum.

Will March be too early in the year or will things be open by then ? some places don't open till easter, is london like that ?
Did that place late one night with only security lights on, awsome, enjoy your visit.

Well, the nay sayers are in the lead. Will the London lovers rally and regain the lead before I send in the bulldozers?
Nay sayers don’t like London. Londoners don’t care what everyone else thinks. It’s unlikely any of us notice what happens outside of the M25.

Get upset. Don’t. We’ll continue our awesomeness either way. When it does crop up in my consciousness, the fact London annoys some people makes me like it even more.

It’s a patchwork quilt of small villages. Each one has its own character, and atmosphere. If you stay away from the tourist traps of Westminster and Islington, and steer clear of the outside toilet of the world ( Croydon ). It’s actually a lot of fun.

Just looked for this Croydon you mention and can not see it on my map of London? I am, of course, using the correct map that has a blue wiggly line at the bottom.
