Thinking I'll now have to 'move over, to Strava from Map My Ride. Is there any way I can tie up the two, without having to manually input the data does any techie folk know?
mapmyride will import direct from the unit.
another little tip, create a folder on your comp, and copy all your activates to it, this way you have a copy of all the original data.

For anyone using strava on iPhone, found out last weekend that you can completely turn off Internet and it still maps with gps. Was out 9 hours last weekend and came home with 40% battery left !

Samsung S7500 and Bikecomputer app, plus external battery pack works well.

Most of the time I don't want more than the VDO wired bike computer unit. Reliable and goes for 2 years on a battery. A paper map also doesn't use many batteries if I need navigation as well.

You can also upload your rides from your Garmin directly to the Strava site via the "upload activity" button on the top right of your Strava account and then "From Garmin" on the left of the page! Happy days!

I had a play ride yesterday, just did an hour's loop. Spent an hour or so this morning updating the software on the Garmin, creating a Garmin account (finding I already had one because of my satnav!), trying to sync strava, etc, and I think I'm finally sorted.

Off out for another ride today (looks sunny and less windy than yesterday, thank goodness) and see if it uploads automatically. Haven't yet tried to upload the ride to MapMyRide as I had my phone running yesterday as well to do a comparison between data, so it would be a duplicate. Will try that later.

Have a great day everybody, a lovely weekend, and superb rides for those of you who can squeeze one (or two) in
