I'd ride that provided it hadn't gone through the weave.

I'm sure my (26" x 1.5) tyres state on the side 'Maximum Pressure 40 PSI'. I checked and IIRC they were inflated to 30 PSI - practically a vacuum in comparison to the above pressures!

Is not Superglue supposed to work well on rubber?

I've ridden on worse, same tires. As long as it's on the rear, not the front, it should be fine. But as everyone else has said, 145 psi is insane!

My personal feelings are yes it may be safe, yes it may go bang and rather rudely spit you off. If at speed you are thinking hope this tyre holds or stops you enjoying the ride then bin it, get a new tyre, peace of mind and all that hippy cr@p and enjoy the ride again.

may go bang ! at 145 psi surely it will be more of a KABOOM

I've been plagued with cuts in tyres this year, and after a couple of gashes on brand new tyres after a few miles use, I decided enoughs enough and decided to mend my last gash. I just got an old tyre, cut off a piece that was far larger than the hole and trimmed all the corners off it to make it oval, applied rubber solution to both the tyre with the hole and the patch and allowed to dry then pressed them both together and they stuck solid. I then added some Ducktape over the top to help hold the patch in place and a bit of protection for the innertube rubbing on the patch. After about 3 months it is still holding.

But I would not do this if the gash was over maybe an eight of an inch and I would also ensure a repaired tyre is on the back.

These days now, I have decided to ride on cheapish tough tyres. ie marathons, Bontrager all Weather etc whilst solo and save the best tyres for fast club runs and events to try and keep costs down.

Works brilliantly as long as you don't ride the bike.
I always use super glue on small cuts never had a problem.Just do not get your finger stuck to the tyre it makes riding difficult.

Thats why i say the rubber stuff cause it melts into more rubber and dosent go sharp and solid like super glue haha

Seriosuly though mate your thres wont be made for 145psi dont go that high unless you want to live up to your username. You wont go any faster by over inflating your tyres, mine actually roll better at 100 psi than 120 you meed to let the tyre deform to allow you more grip!

Im just hoping he realises before he ends up in the "cyclist down" section, hit a sharp rock or kerb at those pressures and it will blow his wheel off!

Very similar situation here. Two nearly new tyres suffered small cuts. I bought some Parktools tyre repair patches and repaired them. I put them on a spare set of wheels which I use when riding near home. I haven't had a problem so at least I'll get some use out of them.

I once saw my sister in law tyres and I couldn't believe my eyes  I don't know how she got away with those tyres. Also, if you ever had the chance to look at tyres people ride in third world countries and you will stop worrying about little cuts ^_^
