Hello,

I am in need of some pearls of wisdom. I travel 28 miles a day on schwalbe ultremo's. I have just noticed a small gash on the tire.

The tire is inflated to 145ish psi, do I need to be concerned?

TIA

First,145 psi.. Why?! And second take the tyre pff and see if anything is stuck in the hole and remove it before it blows out on you, if you want to keep riding it fill the hole with rubber cement from a patch kit and it willhelp stop cr*p getting into it

Go on, tilt your head!
If it has gone all the way through id replace it for sure. I had a blow out early into a failed 200km ride and the hole was about that big and right through, I binned it at the nearest LBS

A hole in the rubber means nothing, it's just rubber and plays no part in tyre integrity. However, if it's broken more than a few strands of the weave (viewed from within the tyre) then I'd agree with what others have said.
THIS ^^^^^

I've a bigger gash in a PR4 and am hurtling around quite happily on it, there's no thread damage. I've flown down Ventoux on worst.
But 145 psi, that's just daft.

My personal feelings are yes it may be safe, yes it may go bang and rather rudely spit you off. If at speed you are thinking hope this tyre holds or stops you enjoying the ride then bin it, get a new tyre, peace of mind and all that hippy cr@p and enjoy the ride again.
