Very edgy for spells around lunch! The Ashes is still alive, hooray!
Joe Root looks pretty unhappy this series, hope he gets some form back at Old Trafford.

I really enjoyed listening to the 3rd Ashes Test on radio. For curiosity, I looked up on the web how much the cheapest ticket costs to watch the 4th Test at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in 10 days time. I was absolutely gobsmacked to find that the cheapest ticket is £159 per person per day! Way way beyond my budget. That equates to total takings of £39.75 million assuming a capacity crowd (probably will be) over each of the 5 days based on just the 'cheapest' ticket price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hadn't realised English cricket was so awash with money and that figure doesn't include the income from the other 4 Ashes Tests plus the Sky TV coverage money or the income from shirt sponsors etc.

It's the same at the top of all sport. The governing body is loaded, everyone else is mostly left to feed off the scraps.

Absolutely cracking performance by England, and thoroughly deserved. Despite the sandpaper enthusiasts best efforts we really haven't been far off.

Toning things down in this Test served us well

yes utter Rubbish from Root, Averaging just over 46 with a ton in the 1st test...

2nd higher series batting avee behind Stokes and 3rd highest runs scored behind Stokes & Duckett (just)

This.

Why we are getting slated is beyond me. Playing a series against literally the best side in the world, losing two matches marginally and winning the third? What more do people want?

county championship - short term deals. is it me or are there so many more this season. i guess with more intl cricket, getting an overseas player for the whole season is long gone.

Looking at my county, Yorks.

today we line up with 3 players not there at start of season...

Ryan Rickleton has come in this week as Shad Masood has been recalled by Pakistan,

Dan Moriarty was signed the other month, which in turn led to Dom Bess being loaned to Warks for 2 games match, and in turn loaned to Somerset for rest of season

Mark Steketee also signed on a short term deal debuted last month
