Just stupid cricket from England.
Giving wickets away for no reason.

Don't worry. Here comes Ben "straight bat" Stokes to add some sanity to the proceedings. ;)

At the start of the day I’m sure most of us would have taken 278-4.
So it can’t be all that bad.
But none of the wickets were very good balls and it just seems a waste.

I'll forgive Duckett because he doesn't have leaving the ball as part of his game. Alistair Cook's comments on TMS and on the highlights made sense; ducking wasn't part of his game so he adopted what he called ''tap it on the head'' - i.e. getting on top of the ball, playing it down and don't try to hit it out of the ground.

the really good news is Lyon appears to have knackered his calf. Only him and Cummins had any sort of control yesterday, the other bowlers going for 7 or 8 an over.

we could salvage the series yet! Spirit of 2005 /Glen McGrath's rolled ankle anyone?

I only come here for the inevitable "for god's sake stop throwing wickets away" comments.

Same as every other Ashes series, in my experience!

I'm from a big cricketing family and am proud to say after starting to play for Kent over 50's when he was 63, then captained the over 60s for a few years my dad is now still playing over 60s on a Tuesday, over 70's on a Thursday and spent February in Australia on tour as part of the England over 70s, getting man of the tournament. The Aussies are coming over here in August and he's in with a shout of being vice captain.

Proud boast over.

He is vice captain.
