What is going off out there?

Stokes preferred the option of trying to take wickets at the end of the day to getting a few extra runs. It didn't pay off and they might miss those extra runs nearer the end of the game.

Hard to say 'what if' tomorrow morn. With Rooty in this form and some careful tailender management could he have got another 30, 40? We'll never know. Cloud cover handy in Birmingham the morrow?

Attack is the best form of Defence. Put almost 400 on the board at 5 an over, then stick the opposition in for a tricky few overs.

Australia bowled well, England batted well. They're the two best sides in the world right now and the way they are going about this Test is great.

Doubt Australia will get anywhere near 600. Maybe a small lead, but that's it.

I think i would have them bat on rather than declare but if we had got a wicket or two i would have probably said the best decision since sliced bread.

I can see why Stokes declared. You (generally) need to take 20 wickets to win a test match. Having 4 overs in the evening after batters having a long hot day in the field and being able to come back fresh in the morning with a still hard new ball was worth a shot.
