Creaking - The Bike not me - headset?

I think I've tried everything

When pressing on, giving it some force through the pedals I get a clicking sound which I thought was coming from the BB and/or gears.

I've "upgraded" quite a bit on the bike, the BB chainset is SRAM Apex compact with GXP BB recently fitted, front mech is Veloce, rear is xenon, recent veloce cassette and KMC 10 chain, second hand but good Centaur shifters, it was difficult to set up the indexing but I've got there now.

Any thoughts?

I was wondering if its the headset creaking as I press on? Its an FSA integrated one, not sure how to go about lubing and/or adjusting it and I'm not quite sure what type it is as there's only thye FSA logo on it no model number that I can see.

Bike is (was) a bianchi via nirone xenon 2007 model

That 'clicking' sound, and creaking sounds just like the noise my Via Nirone made when it was about a year old. It was indeed the headset. At the time i got paranoid about the full carbon forks and took it back to my LBS. He made a quick adjustment to the headset...bingo.

Blinkin flip, I was just about to post the exact same question. In my case, my bike is fairly new (only done 700 miles from brand new) and I thought it was the pedals - it isn't. Went to Cyprus and before hand, had to remove the pedals so I got the recommended grease for when I was over there and thought this would stop the click/click-click. It didn't. If I am putting no pressure on the downstroke (going downhill or with stored momentum coming out), no noise. I thought it was the seat post as I get exactly the same noise from that when I lift the bike by the saddle but it can't be that as I get it when I'm standing up. And it's only on the left pedal downstroke, too.

It also can't be from the upper part of the bike as I tried pushing while exerting the lightest touch possible on the bars. I have identified it as coming from downstairs, left side, under exertion strokes only.

Any suggestions?

Chainring Bolts - all sorts.

Some new frames aren't greased up on assembly.

On my fixed, I find it's the stem/steerer/spacers that click every so often - just need pulling off, re-greasing and putting back together.

I thought my headset was creaking.Turned out to be the seat post creaking in the tube. Cleaned regreased put back on fixed.

Its very difficult to know which bit of bike is creaking while your riding it.

I have exactly the same problem too a clicking creaking noise. Fine if I just hold it in air and spin the peddles but the second I hop on its click click creak creak. At its worst when I stand up on the peddles on a hill. It has pretty much done it since new as far as I remember but I have now had enough. Every thing seems tight gears work perfect. Just removed the water bottles out of the way no difference. Tried another pair of peddles. Cant for the life of me pin point it. Getting the daughter to walk along side of me later. Failing that I book it in some where.
It's a defy 2 by the way just under a year old with not a great deal of use.

Cleats? Frame flex ?

I was re-reading this post and thats interesting. My old Via Nirone used to flex at the BB. Is the 2007 the pre C2C one OldGrey ? If it is, just upturn the bike and have a close look at the weld where the downtube meets the BB...mine cracked. Unlikely, but maybe worth a lookee...
I had the occasional cracking and creaking when i was out of the saddle, took me ages to work it out.
