He thought his front chainweel or axle may be bent so I was offering him a cheap and easy way to get a better idea on how far out it was (or if it was at all).
Nice to see a constuctive post from yourself to help him too .
I thought his video did not help enough to allow a decent answer and the various options had been offered already. So my bet is 'bent axle', but this was not a constuctive (sic) post. I think this is an LBS job, ideally the one that fitted the new chainset!
Alternatively you could remake the video but hold the bike steady at the same time. I agree with others though in that it looks like the chain isn't running straight. Why that would be the case..? No idea. Either way, if the LBS has only just fitted the chainset & you're now having problems in that area then taking it back to the shop is a no-brainer.
It is the old story here. Someone encounters a problem over a weekend and posts as a new member on 25 different forums and then never follows up, leaving us OCD DIYers with a nail biter ending to be followed up with a new sequel two years later.
