He's signed a 2 year contract with SaxoBank.
Will the Schlecks stay though?

Contador signs with Mr 60%... now that's going to put a stop to any suspicion.

And Ashtrayhead - the Schlecks announced that they were leaving to be part of a new Luxembourg-based team some time ago.

Can it be done?
Without recourse to the obvious 'medical' assistance, of course. ;)

I would say no especially when you consider the efforts of Basso and Evans in the Giro and their subsquent 'failure' in the Tour.
If he does then he will have to be very well prepared indeed. Is their anyone close to him who could help in this regard?

Well with Riis' well-known opposition to performance-enhancing drugs, it's hard to imagine... ;)

I've been saying for a while that I would be truely impressed by a rider who manages all 3 in one season.
If contador wins all 3 then I will be very impressed to say the least!

The Giro/Tour double has been done before hasn't it?

Even in the days when the top ten contenders were slurping down EPO smoothies and eating black pudding made from their own blood, no-one ran off with all three. If he was to take advantage of naughty practices (and fwiw I think he was riding clean this year) then he would need the rest of the field to be on their best behaviour in order to maximise his advantage over three GTs.

I think Andy S would love Bertie to bust a gut on the Mortirolo et al

The Vuelta is there for the taking for any of the top guys if they wanted to prioritise it

I think there are signs that contador may become one of the greatest cyclists ever - but he is hardly likely to match merckx's palmeres, and may struggle to reach 7 tdf wins (not suggesting that 7 tdf wins = the best cyclist ever, but it is certainly a landmark acheivement).
If he completes 3 wins in a season then Contador's name will be in the history books forever, and it wouldn't surprise me if he managed this

On how good Contador is, The Virtual Musette's incredibly comprehensive rankings have him currently at 25th best cyclist ever, between Jan Janssen and Greg LeMond. He's only on 65 points however (Merckx is over 400, and the only one anywhere near that BTW). He might get up to somewhere in the 100s by the time he retires, so in or around the Top 10, but that's about it, I would suggest. Three GTs in one season would do him no harm at all in this regard.
