You might not have YET but you will. I'd go out and fall over now if I were you rather than delay the inevitable. At least that way you get to choose the where and the when.

Give over you numpty...7 years and counting

Well, done it! Been out twice today, and no falls. No problems either! Don't know if it's just that I was well prepared, or what, but it seemed really straightforward.

I really liked them too, I'd highly recommend to anybody considering taking the plunge, just go for it.

The only thing I noticed is that on my usual route (11m), I wasn't fast today, 18.3 mph average, usually up to 18.5, but there again I was in an athletics match yesterday, so my legs are in shreds, and I had just been around the circuit with my son.

I think though that I may be slower at first, I feel I'm trying to change my pedaling, I'm thinking about it more, trying to get better technique, so it may be a question of going backwards to go forwards!

It could be your cleats aren't in the right place which may reduce the power you're putting in. Of course it could also be tiredness

Could certainly be cleat position, I positioned them largely by guesswork, put them as far forward as possible, and at a slight angle to reflect my natural foot position.

Could certainly be tiredness. I did 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints yesterday, oh and 100m relay, and 400m relay. And my legs felt knackered before I even began!

Another toy I was testing today, was my Heart Rate Monitor, I managed to pair it with my Bryton 20. Hence I was able to see that I maintained a heart rate of 160 -175 on my 35 minute ride, so it wasn't lack of effort! (I think my theoretical max is around 178.

Just don't worry about falling. Go clipless.

All those who said they never fell are lying. Everyone does.

Really, I have not (yet)...I think I would remember...both my tumbles were off flat pedals...I am pretty clumsy too so you must be really really clumsy if it's that much of an issue

I have another pearl of wisdom!

After switching to clipless pedals, make sure you check your saddle height and position! It may sound obvious, but it's only obvious if you know it. To us newbies it needs to be said. I just raised my saddle by an inch, and put it forward by 10mm too.

Riding is better now, but still some work to do on bike fit!
