Hi, I’ve just bought keo classic 3 pedals to start going clipless for road cycling but the shank part of the pedal is too big for the crank hole.
I have a Boardman 2017 cx comp, does anyone know if there is a particular one I need to buy for it, I assumed pedals were universal but apparently not 😂. I can’t seem to find any information online in regards to it, and Boardman’s website redirects to Halfords, who can’t help.

Thank you.

There are 2 common pedal thread sizes 9/16" and 1/2" sounds like you have the latter.

Tis strange, I would have thought that it would be a universal size for adult "normal" road bikes.
I've bought many Keo pedals and never specified a thread size.

Can you compare thread sizes with the old pedals?
I presume you are aware that the drive side is clockwise and the non drive side is counter clockwise?

Hope you solve it.

I would have thought a 2017 Boardman would have 9/16 x 20 threads for pedals, and like wise with the Keo pedals, as Sharky said check you are fitting the right pedal to the right crank, as Raleighnut says 1/2 threads are available, usually on one piece cranks ie BMX, some one may have fitted the wrong crank on your bike, pictures would help.

I'm aware of the 'normal' size and the smaller one for some kiddies bikes.
What crankset have you got? Go to their specs which should give you the answer. Likewise with the Keo's.

Keo Classic 3 are 9/16" (from Tredz info: "Threading: 9/16 X 20 mm") and the Boardman would have come with a standard FSA crankset so my money's on this...

and the OP not knowing.
