So I've just switched to some dmt carbon sole shoes and put on the same cleats I had on my old muddyfox shoes but with the new shoes they won't clip into my pedals, I use exustar pedals and also have a set of look pedals I have tried but neither will engage but when I put them back on my old shoes they are fine. Any ideas? The carbon sole on the dmt is so stiff you can't flex it so maybe this is why?

Is there anything in the way on the sole of the new shoes ?.

You should just about be able to clip them in by hand, so take shoe off and check what's stopping them.

ive taken the pedals off to check and it looks like the cleat is stopping on one side as pictures, think I would do harm sanding down the clean in this area?

sanded down the back locking part of the cleat and it seems to work alright but ill find out when i get a proper ride in, i dont get a nice click when it inserts though, must be because of the soles

I would say the old cleats are slightly worn with the old shoes so don't work with the new shoes . I have the same problem when I use over shoes and even over socks sometimes .
New cleats should solve the problem .

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
it is i thik the shape of the soles and the lack of flex is changing the shape of the cleat when it is screwed in
Think you might be right. Once they have worn to fit the pedals it should be OK. I have 3 sets of Look Keos, and the new cleats on my new shoes behave differently with each pair of pedals. Can only assume it is due to the pedals having different degrees of wear. The pedals are all set to the easiest tension.

the cleats are only a week old they were only on my old shoes for 100 miles or so maybe a tad more im pretty confident its the profile of the new sole its much more aggresive

Yeah but the cleats are only soft plastic . Fine for one shoe one pedal but as I have found swapping things over tends to create problems .
What cleats are they anyway ?
