Yes exactly, Its probably only a different scented shower gel....after all said shower gel washes the gunk of your body which is the same stuff that you deposit on your helmet (cycling)....

i mixed detol with water in a basin and submerged the whole helmet, it smelt of detol for ages but has yet to get smelly again

I do this too no more smell

Dish washing soap and water for the most part, i dont worry about it much because it will just get sweaty again the next day. Maybe when its going to get put up over the winter for the turbo trainer.
