Dead easy. Forget all about commercial bike cleaners, solvents etc. Go to Tesco's and invest in a mammoth box of Johnson's Baby Wipes at about £6. Then come back and tell me that I'm a barmpot.

These things shift anything that clags to a bike (or you!). You will never use anything else.

I've been using warm soapy water. Does the job!

After taking a wrong turn, and pedalling 5 miles through a muddy/pete field on road tires, I'm gonna need a bigger bucket.

Another for baby wipes, poss car shampoo too.

Reminds me of a holiday in Switzerland, the front of the car was covered in dead bugs & I cleaned the lights & windscreen with baby wipes. another guy was using Autoglym bug remover & really struggling to shift the crap!

I didnt say anything, he looked like the type of bloke that was suckered in by advertising/marketing anyway!

I use a bucket of warm water with car shampoo and baby wipes for what's left. Really messy jobs like cleaning the chain and cassette etc I use old toothbrushes and chain cleaning solution, and re-lube the chain after.

I will have to ask the wife what she uses

If it helps sainsburys do wipes for 18 or 19p a pack. Not used them on the bike but I might do now.

I use those ones from Tesco and Asda.

The cheapest ones are best as they don't contain the moisturising chemicals. You only need the alcohol.
