Can you send a link for details. Most I've done so far is 36 miles, but I'd like to plan ahead and get to 50 by mid next year.

Looks interesting. I've not done a sportive yet, having done some shorter events though. I've set 2012 as being the date I do a number of these.

One'll be the Etape Pennines in October and I've got this mad idea of 3 Coast-to-Coast rides in 3 weekends; Sea-2-Sea Workington-Sunderland, Transpennine Trail Southport-Hornsea, finishing with The Way of the Roses Morecambe-Robin Hood's Bay.

Has anyone done the 74-mile one before?

Yep - I'll be doing it again in 2012.

Has anyone done the 74-mile one before?

I did the medium distance ride last year as my first ever sportive. Really good fun, although I made the mistake of being one of the first to set off. This does mean you never really overtake anyone and get overtaken by hundreds! The middle distance was a little bit shorter last year - around 66 miles if I remember correctly. There is a fairly flatish beginning of around 12 miles to get you nicely warmed up. You then have Mow Cop - about 1 mile of gradually increasingly steep hill - topped with a ridiculously steep top bit that I had to walk on. There are then a couple more hills before the last 35 miles is fairly flat again.

Would love to get up Mow Cop this year without walking!

The 74 basically gets rid of 26 flat miles and a feed. I did the 100 mile route two years ago, and despite getting to the start early (to park), by the time I'd changed, I was way back and it took over an hour to roll through

I am off round for the hills after mow cop tomorrow. Congleton, gun hill and winckle. Should be good fun a 60 mile ride before it gets dark. Don't forget about the clocks going back tonight.

Anyone else doing this and not affiliated to a club? i.e. register under CycleChat ?

Anyone else entering? If you click on: https://www.kilotogo...nts&event_id=31 and login it provides entrant details.

I can see so far with CycleChat as the team (and I'm aware you might have your own club/team) or who've said so on here:

Hardcore 100 milers:
Chris - Chris.IOW
? - Endoman
Ajay - Ajay
? - Holdsworth

Half-way house 74 milers:
Paul Johnson - Kestevan
David Lane - DCLane

Softy 45 milers:
Paul - PaulSecteur

Haven't got a clue what distance they're doing-ers:

I'll be riding it again this year - 74 miler - and I'll be registering as a CycleChat rider.

Or..... I will be if their server stops throwing SQL errors and actually lets me sign up.

Mind you as some wag on Facebook has commented, signing up is still easier than getting across the start line was last year
