You can also put Giant Brand Mudguards on a Defy. I've got an Avail 2 2012 (~= Defy 2) and I got them to fit Giant Guards. So far, so good with 25 stock tyres. It's snug, but not a problem.

I got the guards free due to a couple of chips on the frame....will need to have a fiddle. I think the rack on the back limits options even more
