Changes worth celebrating, that have happened in my lifetime

It's very easy to get bogged down in the negative news, and social change we dont like. What social changes have you seen that you would like to celebrate?

Here are three of mine:


The growth of the hospice movement.

Community cafes and shops.

A better attitude to disadvantaged groups.

Smoking ban in pubs.

This in spades. I grew up on pubs as my dear mother was a barmaid most of her life. In the end it killed her with lung cancer.
As an adult I used to feel so Ill the morning after a pub session, not because of the alcohol but because of the 2 hand smoke.

A better understanding of those who, for want of a better phrase, see and react to the world differently to the norm.
Those with autism, ASD, OCD etc., get much better support than they used to and some enlightened employers and managers have tapped into the skills people with these "disorders" can bring.
It's still far from perfect both in life and schools, but it's better than it was.
