I've never seen it either. I've had a lot of friends who used dope etc but not cocane.

Once got morpine after an opereration though and I have to admit it was fantastic! ;0) Talked to a friend who'd known a lot of people who used coke and he said "you want to be careful with that". I asked him how many times you'd have to take it before you were at risk of having a problem and he said "oh, twice maybe"!

Saw an guy snort coke when I was in sixth form. When he flopped to the ground and started jerking someone who knew him revealed he was an epileptic. I don't know if there is a link or not or if he was particularly afflicted (he 'came to' after 10 minutes or so and was very shaky) but the whole experience scared the bejesus out of me and some part of my subconscious must have connected the two events so I have never been inclined to touch the stuff.

Add that to the fact that (not all but the vast majority of) people I've come across on coke have to be the most boring, self-referential, flat 'wits I've had the displeasure of talking to. At least talking to pissheads is kind of funny as long as they don't hit you and stoners sometimes hit on a goldmine of humour.

the only person I know who has had coke said it was like a strong coffe. I tried dope a few tmes but it just makes me puke so I gave up on the whole thing with drugs and now stick with beer and strong coffe

that's actually not a million miles away. But strong coffee of a slightly disorienting and very pleasurable variety. What it isn't is some vast life-changing experience. There are drugs that inspire musings of great profundity, but coke is more an intensifier of experience. And, if you haven't tried it, the truth is that you haven't missed that much. It's good with alchohol, especially if you're dancing and getting sweaty and having shouted conversations. It's less good on a CTC ride.

And I haven't had any since my 50th birthday. Just to put the record straight.

I never came across anything other than hash in the real world until I left home/ the country. The first time I came across something stronger was with a colleague I'd not long met, just a few weeks later whilst out on a survey he detoured by his dealer

I've taken it on and off for about 20 years socially. My brother first got me into it. Ever since then I've had at least one person in my currents who is into it. I never buy it - ooh, well maybe once every couple of years.

The first few times are very good. After that it's pointless because you will never achieve the same high for the same money.

I know what the good stuff is like though, and in the last 10 years I'd say that on average people are paying about 40 quid for about at the most 10 percent coke in the cut.

It's the biggest waste of money in the world and a mugs game for that reason. There is peer pressure though and for that reason it works like very expensive beer. I'd also worry a lot about the other 90% of stuff in the average product.

Yes, which is why the image of it as a cutesy middle-class peccadillo to be enjoyed at parties is quite irritating.

I'm not much of a drug fiend, dope doesn't agree with me and the mushrooms are a distant memory (although I really, really enjoyed them as an occasional treat) but coke has never really appealed. Nor have the other 'chemical' pharmaceuticals like speed or amphetamines. Not that I've ever come across them either. I did once know a chap who'd tried heroin (smoking, not injecting) and he said that it scared him because it was so nice. I suspect that laudanum would be dangerously pleasant, but that's even harder to come by than coke.

I guess the only drugs I need are tea, beer and love.

They are worst. My brother and I once brought a load of dodgy speed one christmas which was hell.

It was OK for the first couple of hours, but then severe paranoia set in... and this was new years eve. I went home with one aim which was to commit suicide because of the place I was suddenly in. I sat there thinking about it and started hallucinating about hell... and the demons in hell told me to **** off. This went on for about 2 days.

I saw my brother a couple of days later and he was going through the same thing... he was thinking about jumping out of a window. I thought it was just me!!! Thank god for that.

Asking around afterwards we found that the speed may have been cut with a little dose of strychnine, for the buzz.

Any of this shoot could be put into *any* illegal drug.
