Think I may have been the last man on the road. Completed the route about 4, that head wind on the last leg may have been only 10 - 12 mph but it was bothersome. Have to admit I did struggle only averaged 13 mph which I am disappointed with, on the positive, no walking on the Rigg.

Had a brew with HLab before heading home. Great day out, sincere thanks to Dave for putting the route together and as always to the weather Gods for being kind to us.

Bad bits; split tyre, see above, note to self get rid of the beer belly

Thanks to all for your patience while we sorted this out.

Garmin: max speed=40.4mph.

Snap my Garmin says 40.4mph also.
Thanks for the coffe and the lift I couldn't have faced another 23miles in to the wind dehydrated (note to my self when the bottle cage looks lose in the morning, bend it back)
And you certainly wasn't last a group stopped off in a cafe

I think we should have all stopped in the pub in Garvald... lesson learned for next time - better nutrition planning!

Off to think about other routes now...

Good ride for me too even though I took the shorter route back as my pass was getting close to expiring. Just got my head down from Haddington into Musselburgh - don't know my speed or anything as my HR monitor on my wrist was interfering with my wireless computer I think - roll on Christmas so I can get my Garmin fitted.

Got to know my bike a bit better again but it is wet and a wee bit dirty due to wet patches on the roads - this is just not on!

I want some guarantees of completely dry roads before I go out on it again

This was a harder route than a normal CC ride - I liked it and I'm considering organising one that leaves from Kinross and takes in a few hills that featured in the Kinross Sportive with a cake stop at some point. I would also try to plan an alternative route with less climbing so that hopefully we come together at the cake stop then nothing too hard on the way back. Anyone interested? Would probably be sometime in September. If there is enough interest then I'll start a new thread.

Always happy to ride in Fife Kev. Great idea about having alternative routes too.

Powmill Milk Bar would work quite well - the Grimpeurs could get there via Dunning Common or over Knockhill but you can get there without any lumps too from Kinross

I always like going over the Cleish Hills going to Kinross and then round past Loch Leven's Larder and then take the back lane to Falkland (great cafe there) and then over the Hill into Leslie and back round.

BTW the Three Glens Explorer Audax (165k/100 miles) is on Sunday Sept 25 and goes from Linlithgow -Kinross - Dunning - Yetts - Auchterader - Stirling and then back to Linlithgow.

If anyone really loved the Rigg today they can go over it the other way round - the Erit Lass 200k is on Sunday September 11.

Thanks folks for making it a great ride.

On the way back I had an 'IT moment' with the Garmin and ended up cutting the route short to 52mi... I knew something was wrong when I crossed back over the A1 again!
