I've not been active for several years now though. As an entity, both CB and amateur radio has largely been supplanted by mobile phones / the internet IMO.
Mobile phone isn't as much fun somehow!

I think that you are referring to the AM and FM sets. AM was never legalised, IIRC, because it caused too much interference with other transmissions.There were two standards back in the 80's I think. One was the CB that everyone used in their cars, trucks and back bedrooms and the other was a different one that very few people used. My brother and I used the other system with hand held units as two way radios for work.

Bonus points to anyone who can correctly name everything in that pic. I do cheat however, as more than one of those units was hand built by me so you'll have to take a punt at what it does.![]()
