I fink it is poking fun at people fick enough to think steel is a pure metal.

Hmm. Perhaps I'm not thick enough.

I'm no metallurgist, but I do know that steel is basically iron with a bit of carbon. I don't know if that's technically an alloy. But commercial steels are alloyed with other things like nickel and chromium.
