Far too many to list, but a Silver Shadow Mk1 is right up there. Such an understated, beautiful car which just whispered class. Unlike the horrible modern Rollers.

The badge of success for every great 1970s comedian, rock star and thespian.

There used to be a copper that had a very successful business trading, of all things, Bee Gees memorabilia. He made a mint and would regularly turn up for night shifts in his Silver Shadow.

If there are no coppers around on Bash Street on Friday night, I bet that pair of Maurice Gibb Y fronts you have on sale will fetch a really good price. Know wot I mean?

I think the Maxi sales pitch was that the back seats could be made into a double bed. My dad loved them, we had two or three as family cars (from the company he worked for) and we had many a holiday to Scotland crammed to the gunwales with 5 kids, a slobbering dog and a roof rack full of stuff.

The early ones had a cable change gear box, later changed to a rod type. The 1750 HL was the 'fancy' one with it's snazzy twin carbs.
