I use Hammerite rust removing gel on my rusty bits and find that it works well. I have heard some people say that they use Tomato Ketchup, I haven't tried that. I've found that the gel will loosen and soften the rust on chrome leaving the chrome fine underneath when you wash it off. What l want to do is clean it up and possibly replace headset and bottom bracket bearings, try to deal with rusty chrome on forks ...how l don't yet know !!
Get as much info from all you experts and then go for a few gentle rides when the weather gets better.
Aah, the Brooks Professional, I have one - looks so beautiful yet feels like sitting on a brickIn my opinion the Brooks is a perfect example of the beauty of great design

How about Large Flange Aluminium hubs. I may have to go and have a lie down. Here's another one to add to your dictionary of bike terminology 'wrap around seat stays'. Oh, and the piece that goes across which holds the rear brake is a 'bridge'. Not sure of the correct term for the guide that the cable passes through but I'm sure someone will tell us.
OY!!! We'll have none of that talk in here! How about Large Flange Aluminium hubs. I may have to go and have a lie down.

Yep it reminds me of the worlds shortest erotic poem l quote " I've often thought that l would like to be the saddle on your bike" just be careful who you say it to.Some people just like to talk dirty while they're doing it [restoring bikes that is]![]()
I like to get the rust off first, then finish it with the "Anusol"I'd use 'Solvol Autosol' on Chrome.
Just the ticket, lm pretty sure l could lay my hands on "Anusol" here in France if lm not careful !I like to get the rust off first, then finish it with the "Anusol"
