Carlton Professional MK5 refurb

Hello everyone, I've owned a few Carltons over the years , last month I saw I saw a 1977 Carlton pro 531 frame on e bay, I've always wanted to own there top spec frame, so I purchased it, the frame was sound but had been resprayed in a awful colours, so it took 2 days to strip the frame, I primed then tried to get as close to Milano Sliver paint as was the team colours of that time, & added decals & clear coated.
I'll try & finish the bike off when I get back home , as I spend 5 weeks away on a ship, I'm fitting mostly Dura Ace gear on, I've still brakes to sorce one exception is the downtube shifters which is nos 600 arabesque, as they lookmuch better than the D/A ones.
Post more photos when I get home and try and finish off the bike.

Wow! One of my all time fave frames, nice to see it back in Team Silver Lustre nice black detail too

Way better looking than the blue handpainted one i have in the garage lol

My 531 Raleigh Road Ace has the same lugs on it (built by the same craftsmen, W prefix frame) but the BB doesn't have those drain slots.

Got home a couple of days ago,started to build the bike up, I'm still changing things as I go along changed the handlebars to wider ones also change the brake levers from non aero D/A to aero R400, when they arrive

Very encouraging to see this build. Mine is Aug 77 , had a front collision. ..!
Original paint with some brown stuff staining the silver but 50/50 to restore or conserve... Bars and stem the only original parts. You'd say restore?
