I can only echo Shaun's comments, I had one of these and it was very nice indeed to ride. Yes, lighter bikes exist nowadays, but that doesn't always mean better.

I've a few bikes at home, but I'm finding that the most reliable and comfortable ones, are the older ones with the 531 frames . . . Bikes just like the Carlton Pro Am. Yes, I've lighter and faster bikes - but I worry about damaging/denting them; bikes like the Carlton Pro Am seem bullet-proof - in my experience. If one falls over, I just pick it up and know it will be okay - not necessarily the same with carbon fibre.

I'm soon going to be selling some of my bikes; but the ones that I'll be keeping, are the ones with 531 frames. So far as my cycling goes, I'm simply not accomplished enough a rider to need anything better.
I would just keep the ones that hold guiness if i were u like

Ha ha - let me know when you are doing a CChat ride {anything lined up ?} and I'll bring you some to try :okay:.

In fact, on the next ride I do, I'll have Guinness and a hip flask containing something very special indeed - it'll make @rich p 's hair fall out - what's left of it ^_^.

Around Clun perhaps you volunteering ?

Hmm - I've only cycled once this year - how far did you have in mind ? I reckon I can do up to 60 - 70 miles on no training, but anything more than that might be a bit painful . . . . . . . of course, a shorter ride would allow more time in the pub.

60-70 would be fine even 40-50 if we could make it a saturday ? I could make a weekend ride of it. Dunno what Graham is up to. If we made it school hols time I could possibly do midweek.

How about 50 -60 miles ?

You give me some possible dates and I'll see what I can sort out. We need a good pub stop - which will probably discourage the serious riders, like @rich p ^_^

Should we start a thread in CChat and Recreational rides ? . . . Though (realistically) I can't see that many might want to do a ride that I'd organise ^_^. (I've no illusions as to my popularity on this forum - not that I care ).
