I will get some pics of them both and post, looking at them one of them is slightly smaller than the other. So not knowing anything about bikes, i assumed ladies and gents.......now I realise this isnt the case

That makes sense. Some manufacturers made a special 'Ladies' frame. This was either the traditional frame with a sloping top tube (as seen on a million ladies' bikes) or a more expensive and lighter/stiffer mixte frame with twin lateral tubes. Neither is as strong or stiff as a gents' frame but made it easier to ride wearing a skirt. Most serious female riders opted for a smaller gents' frame, which is what seems to be the case here. Sounds promising, looking forward to seeing the pics.
