Barnet,
Sorry for not making myself clear
When I got the bike I was given another set of wheels with it these are the mavic wheels with the 6 speed freewheel these have the campag hubs
The wheels on the bike were 27x 11/4 but not in good condition
It's whether the mavic wheels would fit correctly
If the Mavic wheels are 27 inch then they would fit without any problem. Maybe having to adjust the brake blocks to the new rims.
If the Mavics are 700c they would still fit, but, you would possibly need longer drop brakes calipers to accommodate the slightly smaller diameter wheels.
Edit, looking at the front calipers, you may if needed get away without changing the brakes as there looks to be a bit of wriggle room in them.

This is what I was wondering
It's the brakes that will be the issue
Can you still get tyres for the mavic rims ?

Managed to get it rideable
Couple of things to tweak but it rode very nicely
What are thoughts on white bar tape?

I'd sooner have red or black Cloth tape (Tressorex)

Thread resurrection. Helping my neighbour with his Carlton International rebuild prompted me to look through the Cyclechat archives where I stumbled upon the above Clubman. Exactly the same frame as my Capella Clubman bought in 1964 or 65 from BW Lee Cycles in Sutton Coldfield, which I used to cycle to school.

Same colour (Brunswick Green?) and contrast panels, but think my forks were painted green, not chromed, unsure. Rear mech was plastic Simplex, replaced later by a Sun Tour Skitter (Mr Lee was very excited, first Japanese derailleur he'd fitted). Upgraded to 10 speed at some time. Williams C34 chainset. Weinmann centre pull brakes. Used it for schoolboy crits in Dartmouth and West Smethick parks (Bob Mansell organised?), few local time trials (Concord RCC), a cyclo cross race (Marsh & Baxter Pork Chop GP near Bromsgrove. I crashed and snapped the rear mech - see above!) and rode it to Land's End and back with three mates when I was 15. Can't remember what happened to it, must have sold it when I 'upgraded' to an Armstrong!

The original forks were painted down to 3/4 then chromed at the bottom, they were replaced in the early 80's after a disagreement with a lorry. At the same time new wheels were fitted and the drivetrain changed to 'new 105' 10 speed with a Weinmann centrepull front brake replacing the Weinmann 'dynamic' which was also damaged when the bike got run over.

I might be wrong about mine having centre plus, can't remember. TBF it was a long time ago. Likewise the forks, I don't remember them being chromed. Did have a front lamp boss, though, for the awful Ever Ready plastic thing. I think my head tube was painted white, and there was a Carlton logo middle of the white section on the down tube. Memory very murky.

Are you able to date your frame? I think mine was 1964.

Yep 67, it belongs to my cousin but once he got a Scooter then a Car he never rode it so I got to borrow it sometimes then in about 1980 after my Aunt and Uncle had an extension I was visiting and saw the Carlton behind the new garage in a sorry state so I managed to blag it and after new chain, cables and tyres rode it as my only transport for a few years (still with the dimpled steel Dunlop 'lightweight' wheels) until I got knocked off and a lorry coming the other way ran it over (and narrowly missed me)
