I had a good look at Rose and fully agree the ability to choose different parts such as stem length, saddle, wheels, tyres etc is really good.

Unfortunately what I wanted was out of my price range.

@edindave has had speedy service from Canyon judging by the smile on his face :okay:

Thanks for all the replies / advice, in the end I decided not to bother with the Canyon, it sounds like they still have some lingering issues and I just wasn't prepared to take the risk.
I opted for one of these from my local Evans and was riding it within 3 days of clicking the 'buy' button, I'm very happy with it and the whole buying experience was completely painless (apart from the wallet emptying bit obviously!)

You can get some super deals at Rutland Cycles plus you get to ride before you buy...important if you have been dissapointed with a internet buy..and you can go back to the shop and talk to a person..even better

i got my 2016 cube hpcR with 500 off and a test ride ..there still 3k in CRC ..

To save starting another thread, I bought the Inflite 8 CX Christmas before last. It arrived before expected, with no issues. Over 2,000 miles later, still going strong.
A friend, however, ordered the Endurance cf9. It arrived a bit after promised, with odd wheels.

A short while later, and with less than 200km on the clock, this happened.

She returned the bike and got a full refund and bought a Storck.

I'm trying to work out what's happened as the photo doesn't make it clear. Is it a crack in the chainring?

Yes. Ultegra, cracked through. It is the only photo I have of it.
Thanks for that, but wowsers! It's not something I'd expect from Shimano. Unless Canyon knowingly fitted a knackered chainset, I'd say they're not responsible for that issue at least. However, I wasn't especially impressed with elements of the fettling of my Canyon when I took delivery as the saddle wasn't clamped to the seat post anything like correctly.

My Aeroad is nearing its first birthday with about 5000km and zero problems (after I'd sorted the saddle!). Luck of the draw I guess.

I've got an Ultimate CF SLX 8.0 to play with for the weekend. Took it out for a short ride this morning and... wow! Handling is a dream - it just goes where you want it to go. And fast. Looking forward to a proper ride tomorrow.

It's going to be a real wrench giving this one back. If only I had £3k going spare...

Can't really comment on the supply situation but a bike this good is worth waiting for, I'd say.

"it just goes where you want it to go." So, forwards and round bends, presumably.

That phrase always makes me pmsl. What, is it telepathic?

I would rather one put one's trust in one's own steering skills.

What happened? There's a slight gap between the central spider and the chainrings. It's how it's meant to be. She returned the bike and got a refund although there was nothing wrong with it?

What suits Smutchin may never suit a rider of different age, dimensions, fitness, ability and tastes. Go ride and decide for yourselves whether spending £300 or £3000 on a bike. I've never ridden a Canyon that gave me so much as a semi, and I've ridden more than a few, but bikes I like might bring another rider out in bouts of chunder.
