But maybe not as light, simple, effective and simple to set up and maintain as V brakes.
Personally, I think it's criminal for bike manufacturers to sell any bike with ineffective brakes; let alone a touring bike, which by it's very nature might be used on hilly terrain whilst carrying a heavy load.
