There's a deep carbon rim wheel test in this weeks cycling weekly, although the only conclusion I could come to is that they are fu##ing expensive!

My mate bought the bullets this summer hoping to improve his TT times spectacularly, nice looking wheels, but he's still looking for the spectacular improvement .

Another mate has borrowed some deep section Planet X carbon/alloy on a couple of occasions. Both times he's been blisteringly quick using them and then when going back to his old standard Giant wheels lost a load of speed........coincidence?

I think what I'm trying to say is there is no straight answer, some people go quicker on them and some don't!

thank you for your reply's people, i'm a total novice who's come from a running background, and going to do a few duathlons so just trying to get every bit of information I can. Had my bike for 3 weeks, very very addictive but also very very sore bum.

Haha thank you, I did but hasn't been a day I've not been on the bike or cleaned it.

Do agree that I must get fitter and used to the bike and get the miles in. I will wait now a few months before deciding what wheels to get, but thank you to everyone who has contributed positively/
