Jowy,

Cannondale frames are on the large side. We were in a bike shop last week looking at the CAAD 12 for Jannie. She is currently riding my old 54cm frame which is a fraction on the large size. We were sure she would need a 52cm frame but it was obvious when we saw it that the 50cm would be the correct one.
Will take a trip to evans when im ready to buy to ensure the right size

Heres the Geometry of the Caad 12, I ride a 54cm in most frames, looking at the top tube lengths a 54cm looks right for me, the seat tube looks long but its centre to top not centre to centre

In between here and there
I expect Cannondale may well have 2017 CAAD 12 frameset, but I wouldn't expect this to be around in October. Cannondale Launch 2017 in June/July and then the 2016 will be on discount.

If it really does ride like the Supersix you won't regret it, as for sizing it looks like they have made it slightly longer than the Six I expect that's for the Disc. I ride a 54 Supersix 5ft 10 and 32 inside leg

....
I prefer the look of the CAAD top tubes, quite classic looking rather than the sloping tubes from Giant, Cube and Planet X that appear to be creeping in....I guess its a case of getting your leg over

I have the CAAD 12 dura ace disc, so any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

It rides much more like my carbon bike than my other alu bike i.e. Smooth.

I have tinkered with it a little and it now has fulcrum Quattro carbon disc wheels among a few other minor changes. I like it very much and am planning some longer rides on it, including the double Dun Run, so 200 miles+

Mine weighed 8.3kgs when bought, with pedals fitted, so light but not the lightest. I am guessing mine probably just gets under 8kgs now having shaved 250grms from wheels and some from saddle etc.

Loke it a lot and think it is a very good bike.

It runs a BB30 bottom bracket and a Cannondale Hologram Si chains, both are original to the bike. No complaints from them.
Ah ok.....im buying the frameset only and wanted to use shimano cranks. But its the bloody bb30a thas causing me headaches lol

For me the fatal flaw on the caad12 is the use of qrs to attach the wheel whilst using disc brakes - I much prefer the idea of thru axles with discs!

My giant hybrid has discs and qrs and I find the front wheel a bit finicky to locate properly in the drop outs. As soon as I tighten the QR skewer the disc and calliper ends up rubbing.

I'm probably doing something wrong though! ;-)

I'd say your brake caliper needs realigned. Fit the wheel securely in the drop outs, tighten the qr, then ease the caliper mounts whilst holding the brake applied. This will centre the caliper, which you then tighten whilst the brake is still applied.

For what it's worth, the reviews of the CAAD12 are overwhelmingly positive - for a few hundred quid over a grand it looks like a superb bike

I'm looking right now Jowwy at either a road or CX bike and the CAAD12 is 2016 bike of the year. Is that BB30 as bad as reports ?
Its bb30a which is a different beast altogether......ive decided against and upgraded the groupset and forks on my Ti instead
