Yes, most of the time but there is quite a bit of...er....functional micro balance adjustment (read wobbling) going on if the lights don't hurry up and change.
I've just about nailed it after several weeks of practicing! Most of my riding is on the road and I thought this was the most useful trick to focus on. I'm not terribly smooth but I can balance for upwards of 10 seconds. I know I'm doing well because my "mates" have started making slightly nasty, jealous remarks. There's plenty of room for improvement though.
Yes, all the time at any opportunity I get, waiting for people or at junctions and traffic lights. Admin or beanzontoast even took a picture of me trackstanding one of Hilldodger's tall bikes a couple of years ago.
My weakness is trackstanding with the wheel pointing to the left - usually a near-miss clipless moment follows.
Riding no handed has never been a problem for me,back in my teenage years i remember riding my Raleigh Arena for about 5 miles hands free,including junctions,but I cant track stand for toffees.I'm going to make it my mission this summer to learn though..
