Gaz, cracking first vid ... we've all been there, but usually no one is looking so you get away with it. Glad you and bike were okay though ...

I can do about 10 - 20 seconds ... but not a full minute ... may as well put my foot down. However it does provide a way to pass the time whilst waiting for the lights to change. But once you wobble off the spot put your foot down rather than looking silly and almost knocking other people that I see some doing. My best ever ride was about 4 miles without putting my foot down once through 12+ sets of lights (obviously some were green and some lucky changes), a multi lane roundabout and several pedestrian crossings.

First few times, ok first 100 times, I lost it, complete wobble & on several occasions I was only saved by the lovely foliage to my left - I stopped trying after the time I landed in stinging nettles
But then i got my Spesh & I tried it..OH WOW! I can do it!!
Only for a second or two at frirst, but can now mange about 10 seconds, ok this may not be long, but it's progress

As a kid i could never do a handstand , could not do wheelies , usless on a skateboard, so finally realised i have no balance , so with all the practice in the world i would never track stand, so as Homer Simson the great thinker one said "if something looks hard then its not worth doing"

No.

What's more, I'm too chicken to try right now on my botched-up fixed-gear.

I keep wanting to give it a go, but I'm afraid of looking a more of a buffoon in public than I am.

In my youth I could kickstart a stalled big traillie in London traffic without putting a foot down.

(Cue nostalgic music).

I don't think I'm really in that league any more.

If I ever get up the nerve to try it, I'll make sure I tell the whole world.
