Itching to get back on my bike's

@biggs682 I may have found a bike closer to me on Secondbike! Just waiting for the seller to confirm.
I'll keep you posted if it doesn't happen.
And yes, that's a good price for a bike that seems to be in good condition! (Not too much fan of the blue color, but that's me being fussy...)

ok , might have a small Principia soon

Interesting. I am also 5' 6" (1.68M) and fit nicely into a small. Vickster who is 4 inches taller than me had a medium.

at 4cm taller than me, I think the original poster - if looking at giants would test ride the S & M to be sure.

.

Actually I got that wrong the Avail is a small, getting mixed up with her Escape which is medium:banghead::rolleyes:.

In the end I think women specific bikes is a marketing ploy. Jannie had a Trek Lexa SL, a womens specific bike. She never really got used to it and yet I loved. We just switched bikes and she had my 54cm road bike.

We all like to sit and ride in different ways and the only way you can find what suits you is to get on and ride it. Some short people like big bikes and I have seen lots of guys riding road bikes that would fit their 14 year old daughter.

The weird world of cycling.

I think it is as well, but I think women do need a womens seat. I've got 2 mens/unisex bikes and I'm just short of 5 foot 3. I'm not overstretched on either of mine and I dont have pins and needles or pains in my shoulders or hands. I think as long as it fits.
Seats are a totally personal thing again.

I bought Brooks saddle of ebay \Germany for £8. I put it on the bike as soon as I got and went off and rode 110 miles. The seat was brilliant. When I had a closer look at it I saw it was a women's Brooks Imperial.

I have had lots of saddles but now use Charge Pan on all my bikes.

Bianchi's women's bikes use the same frame geometry as their men's bikes. The only difference is in some of the finishing kit - eg women-specific saddle - and more 'feminine' colour schemes.

More "feminine" than Celeste?..... How?.... BTW, that's not a criticism, I'm about to do up up a Brompton in Pantone 332 with Campag, Miche and Selle Italia bits simply because Bianchi don't make a folder......

Well, you're right to pick me up on that point. It wasn't meant to be my own evaluation, more a comment on the fact that women's bikes tend to come in white/pink/purple, while men's bikes are BLACK. But looking at the Bianchi website, it seems their current women's bikes are similar colours to the men's bikes.

Nice. I'm very keen on the idea of a pink Brompton. Adam Buxton rides one and I think it looks great...

Bianchi makes bikes that are pastel turquoise, always have, always will... The black framed ones are just wrong..

My lady rides bikes equipped with campag because she says shimano levers are too big for her hands and finds problems with braking on long hills on them this of course is the reason for cross top brakes on women's bikes giant seem to fit them on their avails as standard- the other thing she has is a fairly short stem and of course a womans saddle

Both my CX and my Roadie are 'mens' bikes with female specific saddles. I changed the stems to an 80cm one and the bars to 40cm and they fit me perfectly. Actually, my 40cm bars on the CX came off my Giant Defy whose original bars were too wide for me so I bought the 40cm bars from our own @vickster

That Bianchi was lovely. I'd have bought it
