My shimano 501's are about done so looking for a new set have between £150-200 to spend usual suspects in the frame shimano rs21
Fulcrum 7 or 5
Mavic askium elites
Fulcrum quattro
Campag Scirocco
And new tyres thinking conti 4000s II
Will any of these be a decent ish upgrade over the 501's?
Thanks

Superstar Components do a wheelset called the Pave 28. They're really good for just under £200, as good as wheels double the cost. However, from personal experience, they're not the strongest wheels. However if you live in an area where there aren't mammoth potholes or you can avoid them quickly enough, you shouldn't have a problem.

Can I come in there?
Ok thanks, I purchased the superstar Elite ultra 30's which are around your budget, review in the errrr,.......review section.
I like em! I'm only around 74kg and I've had no problems with strength so far.
And purchased after seeing a link from I think - @SamR

Disclaimer - this is in no way a recommendation, just another option.

To confuse you more - take a look at http://road.cc/content/review/148314-cero-ar24-wheelset

I have the Scirocco's bigger brother the Zonda and am very happy. I have heard good things about the Scirocco too.

I have the Zondas too and love them, and also two of my mates have just bought these after trying mine, but also I have the lower grade Khamsin's for winter which are good for a £100 pair of wheels, going by that the Scirocco's are probably a good option.....

Come to Yorkshire they top dress roads they have just repaired that are nice a smooth till a month later when they top dress the bits they just did, but leave roads badly in need of repair untouched.

Ok to add wood to the fire my Cole Rollen Elite wheels have bitten the dust, well the rear. So now in the market for new wheels but as a stop gap to see me into the Autumn. So thinking about similar budget for a set or might just replace the rear with something ? Any good deals on sets reduced ? Thinking i`m wasting my money at the cheaper end so similar budget to original poster. The carbon bling can wait till Christmas.

Yep just wondered how much of a budget they were but they would tide me over till the start of Autumn I would think and then the bike won`t be out again

They are looking like my get out of jail card, however googling my issue some suggest riding my existing wheels till they fail. Thinking buy a cheap set like above for I need a front wheel anyway for my fixed anyway so that would help and then I think i might start buying parts to get a set of handbuilts in something sensible and bomb proof for my weighty @rse
