Brrr cold legs - womens' tights recommendations please

I think you are tougher than me

It is my ample thighs that get cold, so leg warmers aren't going to work

Any recommendations for actual warm womens' tights anyone?

Silk tights are meant to be very warm, maybe you could wear this under your standard tights?? Not sure if they are thick enough to wear on their own. How are you, have not seen you around for a while

I was previously wearing a pair of gore windstopper. Now changed to wearing skins shorts with skins tights over top or a pair from decathlon - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/cycling-tights-5-charcoal-sky-id_8181351.html

I too was going to suggest the bamboo under layer ... the ones I have look thinner than the one shown (I may have to purchase a pair!) and I haven't yet put mine on ... though we have only just had the first frost here today so it may be the right time to start.

Thanks all. I am not sure I want to go down the 2 layer route, I only have a short commute (~20 minutes, but yes I do need padding), seems a lot of faff  I popped into Evans yesterday , they had some Pearl izumi but they felt no thicker or woolier that the Sugoi. I couldn't get the Altura night vision ones over my feet - I need zips!! They did feel nice and thick though

The only Endura item I bought was poor quality, kind of put me off the brand but will investigate, or maybe DHB (but am not sure they go big enough - 16-18?)?

There are these - anyone have any idea on Funkier sizing? http://www.parker-international.co.uk/16016/Funkier-Bike-Ladies-Winter-Thermal-Cycling-Tights.html

Having been to town in my thickest tights (an old pair of decathlons which are too big now), I don't think I'll find any that will be thick enough on their own. Going to get some winter cruisers to wear over the top I think, cheaper too at around £26!

What's best for keeping neck and chin warm - a buff presumably? How tight are they around the neck, I hate feeling throttled!!?

Also, my eyes get very watery, I wear glasses so bigger cycling ones aren't going to work - not got the spare pennies for prescription ones - any thoughts?

I am beginning to think I should mothball all ideas of cycling until the spring lol

Might be a bit late, but these are what you want:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-ladies-pace-roubaix-padded-tight/

I bought a pair of these for my GF and she loves them. Even wears them under her jodhpurs to go horse riding. The roubaix fabrix with fleece lining is very plush, and they are very toasty, but they don't make you overheat. Good price too.

GF also didn't want bibs - which makes sense, as toilet stops become a bit tricky for girlies.

Thanks. They don't have any 16s in stock so I'll try the Winter cruisers on order and may give the Wiggle ones a go if they are no good and stock comes in

Appreciate this might sound "wrong" but have you tried a normal pair of womens tights under your cycling ones? When I was younger cycling kit was far less technical and basically crap and loads of cyclists "back up north" used to do this, myself included and it does work however, if your a bloke wearing them, just don't crash as it could be an embarrasing A&E moment!
