Brrr cold legs - womens' tights recommendations please

I have some thinnish Gore tights and some Sugoi ones (level 2 of 4) which are more fleecy but still not warm enough for these temperatures (7deg and less)

Any recommendations around the £50 mark and the best deals

I like Pearl Izumi so these are a well priced option but still may need something thicker

I have Altura winter cruisers, very warm and available in ladies version. I would Google them for a price as they seem to vary from £26 to £34

I was given a set of cross country ski-ing bib longs, which are nigh on identical to cycling longs but have no pad.

They work brilliantly on top of other more lightweight shorts and have the full windstopper down the front.

Not having the pad in you arent tied to having to wash them as much either.

For winter I would say go for bibs.

The only reason I suggested no pad was because I have found that it makes them easier to wash/use, you arent relying on one pair having that clean pad all the time.

Bibs aren't my thing, I don't like having tight straps over my shoulders

What about getting some leg warmers under the tights?

Last winter i managed ok even when it hit -10 by wearing a pair of normal shorts with fleecy legwarmers and a pair of running tights over the top, currently i am using some running leggings that not lycra but still cut tight that i got from sports direct.

It is my ample thighs that get cold, so leg warmers aren't going to work

Any recommendations for actual warm womens' tights anyone?

Layer up? Trap some air between two thinner layers to get better insulation than one equivalently thick layer.
Suggest http://www.bambooclothing.co.uk/store/show_product/WZ022-BLK . Bamboo is warm and comfortable and not uncomfortable if you get a little warm. I've worn them on an Audax in Feb this year, and under salopettes when Ski-ing, and its my best purchase of the year.

I had a pair of Gore tights last year that were windstopper fabric. Very warm, but they're too big now and my husband pinched them. Plus I've swapped to bib tights this year as I much prefer not getting a cold section on my back.

Rainlegs keep the wind off as well as rain, and make quite a lot of difference to above the knee warmth.
No style points tho'

For normal, I was using the unpadded men's version of the Endura Thermolite down to -13 last winter

I've started wearing Ronhill tracksters over my bib 3/4 lengths and it seems to be working ok. Mind you, we've not dipped below zero yet.

When ultra cold Merino long johns are perfect though if more rainy I would use bibs.
