Spoke has snapped off on back, at the wee metal bit where it attaches to outer rim. Think the metal bit is inside the wheel.

Can I commute tomorrow or is this best to get into the LBS and get fixed?

how many spokes on the wheel to start with?
what kind of rim?
what kinf of brakes - disc or rim ?

A stiff rim and 36 spokes .... you can live with it for a few days,
32 spokes might have to open the qr on rim brakes

Rims: Whyte Disk Road 32mm Deep, Offset Section Rim, 32 Hole Rear and 28 Front, 3M Reflective Decals

Spokes: WTB 2.0mm, Black Sandvik Stainless with Black Brass Nipples

Disc brakes.

The nipple is inside the rim. Bollocks.

Got the nipple out!

What about the spoke? Should I tape it up?
Rear spokes can be a bit of a swine as you probably need to get the cassette off to get it out unless its non drive side and you can maybe yank it out .
Wrap the old one around another spoke and tape it should be ok as long as its secure .

Although the back wheel looks a bit buckled when it is spinning. Can that be fixed?
It will do, the rim is not tensioned where the missing spoke is so as soon as a new spoke is added and tensioned to balance the wheel it should be fine.(assuming whatever broke the spoke has not borked the rim )
Luckily its a disk wheel as a normal caliper rim would mean you would have to have the brake open wider and not be able to brake effectively

A small update.

Had the bike in for a further 2 broken spokes at some stage last year, then was off it from December to March (used occasionally) but now I'm back on the bike regularly I have a broken spoke again!

Not working tomorrow so had everything set for a 3 hour cycle in the morning then notice the wheel is not true and alas - broken spoke.

Is this normal? I think I'm only upto about 850 miles on the bike and I've had 4 broken spokes. It's a C2W bike otherwise I'd be getting to the point of punting it!

I love being out on the bike but all this side of it is getting on my nerves :cursing::blush:
